Project Overview
ShadeCo India Private Limited designed, fabricated and installed a school entrance tensile canopy at Delhi Public School, Shastripuram, Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The project covers the main school entrance with a twin conical canopy, also called an entrance shade structure or school gate canopy. It is made of PVC coated polyester fabric on a cantilever steel frame.
The entrance is the busiest point of the campus. Students, parents, staff and visitors gather here every morning and afternoon, often in strong sun or rain. The school wanted a covered approach that would shade this area and give the gateway a clear, recognisable look.
Twin Cone Cantilever Design
We designed two conical canopies joined together into a single roof over the entrance. The cones are carried on cantilever steel supports, which keeps the supports away from the main walking path and leaves the area under the canopy open. The raised cone shape lets rainwater run off quickly and keeps the fabric tight.
The fabric is 900 GSM PVC coated polyester, chosen for the size of the cones and daily outdoor use. The columns stand on new foundations, and the steel frame is finished in high gloss automotive Duco paint for a smooth, bright surface. The frame was designed for wind loads as per IS 875 (Part 3).

Fabrication and Installation
Our in-house team made the steel frame and the fabric canopy in our workshop. The steel columns and cantilever arms were cut, welded and finished in high gloss automotive Duco paint. The 900 GSM fabric was patterned, cut and heat sealed to fit the two cones exactly. Preparing these parts in advance kept the time needed on the school campus short.
At the site, the work started with new foundations for the columns. Once they were ready, the team erected the steel frame, lifted the fabric into place and tensioned both cones until the surface was smooth and tight. All site work was carried out during the school holidays, so classes and the daily movement of students were not disturbed, and the full project took about one month.
Project Result
The entrance now has a shaded, covered approach that students, parents and staff use every day in sun and rain. The twin cones give the school gate a distinct look that is easy to recognise from the road.
