Project Overview
ShadeCo India Private Limited designed, fabricated and installed a car parking tensile shade at the Bhusawal Thermal Power Station in Deepnagar, Jalgaon district, Maharashtra. The coal-fired plant is operated by the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO). The new parking shade covers about 8,000 sq. ft. and was completed in May 2025.
Cars parked in the open at a power plant face strong summer sun, monsoon rain and fine dust from the site. The client wanted a covered car park that would protect staff and visitor vehicles through the year while keeping the parking area easy to drive in and out of.
Arched Cantilever Parking Shade Design
The car parking shade is built as two rows of arched cantilever canopies facing each other, with an open driveway between them. Each row has its columns at the back, so cars can drive straight into the bays without any posts in the way. The arched fabric lets rainwater run off to the rear of each row.
The membrane is Serge Ferrari PVDF coated fabric, 950 g/sqm, in a flame-retardant (FR) grade, which suits an industrial site. This fabric carries a 15-year warranty. The steel frame has an Asian Paints Apcolite Advanced epoxy primer in grey and an Apcolite epoxy finish coat. The columns stand on new foundations, and the frame was designed for wind loads as per IS 875 (Part 3).

Fabrication and Installation
The cantilever frames were fabricated, primed and painted in our workshop, and the PVDF fabric was cut and joined for each bay before dispatch to Bhusawal. Preparing the parts in advance reduced the time our team needed inside the plant.
Work at a power station follows strict entry and safety rules. Our team worked with gate passes for every worker and vehicle and followed the plant’s safety procedures while casting the foundations, erecting the steel and tensioning the fabric. The project took about two months to complete.
Project Result
Staff and visitors now park under about 8,000 sq. ft. of shade, protected from sun, rain and site dust. The column-free fronts and the central driveway keep traffic moving smoothly at shift changes.
