Custom Carport Canopy Design: Bay Layout, Clearance and Drainage
Posts are placed behind or between the bays, never where a door will hit them. On tight plots, a cantilever frame keeps the front fully open. Wheel stops or guards protect posts from bumpers.
The canopy clears the tallest vehicle that parks there, including SUVs and roof carriers. It covers the full length of the car, so rain does not fall on the bonnet or boot. Where the back fixes to a wall, we use RCC beams or columns and seal the joint.
Rain is led off to the back or side, away from car doors and the walkway to the house. Gutters and downpipes carry it to a drain. The fabric is tensioned on the frame so water never collects on top.
