Custom Porch Canopy Design: Post Positions, Height and Drainage
Posts frame the entrance, so we place them clear of the door swing, the steps and the path. Where cars stop, posts stand outside the car door zone. Footings are cast with as little damage to the porch flooring as possible.
Height is set so the canopy feels open and clears any vehicle that stops beneath it. Where the canopy meets the house, we fix into RCC beams or columns and seal the joint. The fabric is tensioned on the frame so it stays smooth.
Rain is led off the canopy to the sides, away from the main door and steps. Gutters and downpipes run along the posts where needed. Lights are fixed to the steel frame, not the fabric.
