A bus and truck parking shed is a tall, wide-span roof that shelters buses, trucks and other heavy vehicles while they are parked. It is also known as a bus and truck parking shade, bus depot shed, truck parking shelter or heavy vehicle parking shed. It is used at bus depots, school and college bus bays, logistics parks, warehouses, factories, transport companies and municipal vehicle yards.

ShadeCo India Private Limited is a bus and truck parking shed manufacturer and supplier in India. We design, fabricate, supply and install wide-span arched sheds, cantilever bus sheds, portal-frame truck sheds, drive-through bus bays and multi-row depot sheds. Roofs can be metal sheet, polycarbonate, PVC or PVDF tensile fabric, or HDPE shade net, chosen for the yard and its use.

Planning starts with the tallest and longest vehicle on site. We record the height, length and turning path of the buses or trucks, then the space they need to reverse in and pull out. These decide the clear height, the span and where every column can stand.

Why Choose a Bus and Truck Parking Shed

A bus and truck parking shed keeps large vehicles cool and dry while they wait between trips. Buses parked in full sun become very hot inside, and drivers need time and fuel to cool them before passengers board. Covered trucks also protect cabins, tyres and some loads from strong sun and rain.

Heavy vehicles need much more height and span than cars, so ordinary car sheds do not work. A purpose-built shed gives the clear height, open floor and turning space that buses and trucks need. It also gives drivers a sheltered place for checks and cleaning.

Types of Bus and Truck Parking Sheds

The right heavy-vehicle shed depends on the vehicle size, how vehicles enter and leave, and how many rows are needed.

Wide-Span Arched Shed

Curved arches span one or two rows of buses with columns only at the outer edges. The open floor makes reversing and turning easier.

Cantilever Bus Shed

Columns stand at the back of the bays, leaving the front fully open for buses to drive in. It suits school bus bays along a boundary.

Portal-Frame Truck Shed

Steel portal frames give a tall, square-shaped shed with straight sides. It suits truck yards that need maximum height across the width.

Drive-Through Bus Bay

Vehicles enter at one end and leave at the other without reversing. It suits busy depots where buses arrive and leave throughout the day.

Multi-Row Depot Shed

Several roof bays run side by side to cover an entire depot or transport yard, with gutters between the bays. For other covered areas on industrial sites, see our tensile structures.

Custom Heavy-Vehicle Shed Design: Clear Height, Span and Turning Space

Clear height is set by the tallest vehicle, including roof-mounted AC units, luggage racks or high truck bodies. We keep the lowest member of the frame above that line with a safe margin. The roof edge is also set high where vehicles enter at an angle.

Span is planned so columns stay out of the turning path. Buses and trucks need a wide swing to reverse into a bay, so we place columns at the outer edges or behind the bays. Column guards protect supports that sit near moving vehicles.

Drainage and lighting are planned for a working yard. Gutters run along the long edges and send water to yard drains, away from driver walkways. Lights under the roof let staff check and clean vehicles at night.

Roofing Options for Bus and Truck Parking Sheds

All four roofing types can be used on heavy-vehicle sheds. The right one depends on heat, light, upkeep and how hard the yard is used.

Benefits of Bus and Truck Parking Sheds

A bus and truck parking shed protects heavy vehicles from sun and rain and makes daily yard work easier.

  • Cooler Cabins: Buses need less cooling time before passengers board.
  • Protected Vehicles: Paint, tyres and interiors face less sun damage.
  • Easier Turning: Wide spans keep columns out of vehicle paths.
  • Sheltered Work: Drivers and cleaners work out of the rain.
  • Organised Yard: Covered bays keep parking orderly.
  • Built for Heavy Use: Strong frames and finishes suit busy yards.

Applications of Bus and Truck Parking Sheds

Schools and colleges cover their bus bays, so buses stay cool for afternoon trips. Transport companies and bus depots cover parking rows and maintenance lanes. For wide curved roofs over long rows, see our arch-type car parking sheds.

Logistics parks, warehouses and factories shelter trucks waiting to load or unload. Municipal bodies cover garbage trucks, fire tenders and other service vehicles. Car parking on the same site can use our car parking tensile structures.

Bus and Truck Parking Shed Price in India: What Affects the Cost

The cost of a bus and truck parking shed depends mainly on the clear height, the span and the number of bays. Taller columns and wider spans need heavier steel and larger footings.

Roofing choice changes the figure: HDPE is the most economical, and metal sheet, polycarbonate and tensile fabric each need different purlins and fixings. Column guards, lighting, gutters, finish and work inside a running yard also affect the price.

For a quotation, share the type and number of vehicles, their height and length, a sketch or photo of the yard, your roofing choice and the location.

How We Design and Install a Bus and Truck Parking Shed

Heavy-vehicle sheds are tall and wide, so vehicle sizes and yard movement guide every step.

  • Step 1 – Yard survey: We measure the yard, record vehicle sizes and turning paths, and check ground levels and drains.
  • Step 2 – Layout and drawings: We propose the shed type, clear height, span, column positions and roofing for the vehicles.
  • Step 3 – Engineering: Columns, trusses or arches and footings are designed for the span and the site wind load as per IS 875 (Part 3).
  • Step 4 – Fabrication: Heavy members are fabricated and finished in our workshop, and roofing is prepared for the long spans.
  • Step 5 – Installation: Footings are cast, the frame is lifted with cranes, and roofing, gutters, guards and lights are fitted.
  • Step 6 – Handover: We check clear height with a vehicle, test drainage and explain inspection and upkeep.

Explore Our Parking Projects

ShadeCo India has designed and installed large-span parking shades for industrial and public sector sites across India. Completed projects include the car parking shades at Thermal Power Station, Bhusawal, and the parking canopies at two Saurav Chemicals Ltd sites in Panchkula (Haryana) and Derabassi (Punjab).

These installations cover long parking rows on busy industrial premises, where the span, column positions and drainage had to suit daily vehicle movement. They are a useful reference when planning a taller bus and truck parking shed for a depot, logistics yard or factory. View ShadeCo India parking projects.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions - Bus and Truck Parking Shed

A bus and truck parking shed is a tall, wide-span roof that shelters buses, trucks and heavy vehicles while parked. It is used at bus depots, school bus bays, logistics parks and factories.

The cost depends on clear height, span, number of bays, roofing and site work. Taller and wider sheds need heavier steel. ShadeCo India can prepare a quotation once it has the vehicle details, photographs of the yard and the site location.

Metal sheet suits heavy-use yards, polycarbonate suits depots that work in daylight, and PVC or PVDF fabric suits neat school and corporate bus bays. HDPE is a budget sun-cover option.

It must clear the tallest bus, including roof AC units or luggage racks, with a safe margin. We confirm the height from your vehicle details before design.

With regular painting and checks, the steel frame of a depot shed is expected to last 25–30 years. PVDF fabric, if chosen, carries a warranty of up to 10 years, subject to the manufacturer's terms.

Yes. Tall columns, trusses or arches and their footings are designed for the site wind load as per IS 875 (Part 3).

Heavy-vehicle sheds are usually delivered in 3–6 weeks, depending on size and design. Crane work is phased to keep the yard running.

Yes. A drive-through layout lets vehicles enter at one end and leave at the other. It suits depots with steady traffic and enough yard length.
