Column-free fabric parking shade over two cars side by side in a house forecourt
Double bay parking shade with a slim centre column between two cars outside an office

A double bay car parking shade is a fabric roof that covers two cars parked side by side under one structure. It is also known as a double bay car parking shed, two-car parking shade, twin bay car shade or two-car canopy. It is used at homes, villas, builder floors, clinics, showrooms, small offices and housing society bays.

ShadeCo India Private Limited is a double bay car parking shade manufacturer and supplier in India. We design, fabricate, supply and install column-free double bays, centre-column double bays, double cantilever bays, wall-fixed double bays and double bays with a shared gutter. The fabric is PVC or PVDF-coated polyester for full rain cover, or HDPE shade net for sun cover only.

The key choice is whether a column can stand between the two cars. A centre column keeps the frame lighter, while a column-free span leaves the full width open. We check the space between the cars for doors before deciding.

Why Choose a Double Bay Car Parking Shade

A double bay car parking shade covers two cars with one structure, using fewer posts than two separate single bays. Many homes and clinics park two cars side by side, and a shared roof keeps both cool and dry. It also looks neater than two small shades placed next to each other.

The main challenge in a two-car bay is the space between the cars. Doors on both sides of that gap need room to open. A double bay is planned around that gap, either keeping it column-free or placing a slim column where doors will not hit it.

Types of Double Bay Car Parking Shades

The right double bay depends on whether a centre column is acceptable and how the cars enter.

Column-Free Double Bay

A wider beam or frame spans both cars with posts only at the outer corners. The gap between the cars stays completely clear for doors.

Centre-Column Double Bay

A slim column stands between the two cars, shortening the span. It suits bays where the gap is wide enough for doors to open past it.

Double Cantilever Bay

Posts stand at the back only, and the roof reaches over both cars. The front and middle stay open for easy parking.

Wall-Fixed Double Bay

The back fixes to a strong house or boundary wall and posts carry the front. It suits forecourts along a wall.

Double Bay with Shared Gutter

Two roof panels slope to a gutter along the middle, sending rain away from both outer doors. For one-car bays, see our single bay car parking shades.

Custom Double Bay Design: Centre Gap, Span and Door Clearance

The gap between the two cars decides the frame. If both inner doors need to open at the same time, we keep the middle column-free and use a stronger beam. If the gap is wide, a slim centre column shortens the span and lightens the frame.

Outer posts stand beyond the outer doors, so neither driver hits a post getting out. Clear height is set for the taller of the two cars. The roof extends far enough to cover both bonnets and boots.

Rain is led to the outer edges or to a central gutter, depending on where people walk. On a shared-gutter design, a downpipe runs down the back post. A light at the centre of the frame covers both cars at night.

Benefits of Double Bay Car Parking Shades

A double bay car parking shade gives two cars full cover from one frame, with the centre gap planned for doors.

  • Both Cars Covered: Two cars stay cool and dry under one roof.
  • Doors Open Freely: The centre gap is planned for doors on both sides.
  • Fewer Posts: One structure needs fewer posts than two.
  • Tidy Forecourt: A single roof looks neater than two small shades.
  • Choice of Span: Column-free or centre-column to suit the space.
  • Good Value: One frame for two cars keeps the cost per car lower.

Applications of Double Bay Car Parking Shades

Homeowners and villa owners shade two family cars in the forecourt or driveway. Builder floors cover two-car stilt or front parking. When a full row of cars needs cover, see our multi-bay car parking sheds.

Clinics, showrooms and small offices shade two visitor or staff bays near the entrance. Housing societies cover paired resident bays. For larger fabric parking areas, see our car parking tensile structures.

Double Bay Car Parking Shade Price in India: What Affects the Cost

The cost of a double bay car parking shade depends mainly on whether the centre is column-free. A column-free span needs a stronger beam than a centre-column design.

Fabric choice changes the figure: HDPE costs least, PVC sits in the middle and PVDF stays cleaner for longer. Cantilever layouts, a shared gutter, lighting and footing work also affect the price.

How We Design and Install a Double Bay Car Parking Shade

In a two-car bay, the gap between the cars decides the frame, so we check it first.

  • Step 1 – Site visit: We measure both bays and the gap between them, note the cars and check the ground for posts.
  • Step 2 – Layout: We propose a column-free or centre-column design, post positions, height and fabric.
  • Step 3 – Engineering: Posts, beams and footings are designed for the span and the site wind load as per IS 875 (Part 3).
  • Step 4 – Fabrication: Posts and beams are made and finished, and the fabric roof is cut and welded to cover both cars.
  • Step 5 – Installation: Footings are cast, posts and beams are fixed, and the roof and gutter are fitted.
  • Step 6 – Handover: We park both cars to check door clearance and height, then explain cleaning care.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions - Double Bay Car Parking Shade

A double bay car parking shade is a fabric roof that covers two cars side by side under one structure. It can be column-free or have a slim centre column. It is commonly used at homes, clinics and showrooms.

The cost depends on the layout, column-free or centre-column design, fabric, gutter and footings. Column-free spans cost more. ShadeCo India can prepare a quotation once it has photos of the bays, the car details and the site location.

A column-free bay keeps the middle clear, so both inner doors open freely. A centre column lightens the frame but needs a wide enough gap between the cars.

PVC and PVDF-coated polyester both keep rain off the cars, and PVDF stays cleaner. HDPE shade net is a budget option for sun cover only.

The steel posts and beams are expected to last 25–30 years if maintained. On two-car shades, PVDF fabric is warranted for up to 10 years, subject to the manufacturer's terms.

Yes. Outer posts stand beyond the outer doors, and the centre is either column-free or has a column placed where inner doors can clear it.

A double bay shade is usually delivered in 3–6 weeks, depending on layout and design. Fitting on site takes a short time.

Yes. Posts, beams and footings are designed for the site wind load as per IS 875 (Part 3).
