The house wall carries the back of the awning, so we fix into RCC beams or columns at the right height. Where the patio is wide or the wall is weak, front posts take part of the load. Post footings are set without breaking more of the patio floor than needed.
Patio awnings cover a large area, so drainage matters. The cover slopes away from the house, and a gutter along the front edge carries water to a drain or garden bed. With polycarbonate, sheet joints and end caps are sealed against leaks.
